Design Odyssey for Katnook

Design Odyssey for Katnook

23rd May 2008

Katnook Odyssey 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon featured in a star studded cast at the 2008 Wine By Design launch, held for over 300 guests at Carousel Restaurant, Albert Park Victoria in May 2008.

The brainchild of marketer Rory Kent, Wine By Design brings together twelve wineries and creative icons across various industries to raise $25,000 for Make Poverty History. The artists design the labels (limited only by their imagination), the wineries supply a flagship wine, labels are produced and Vintage Cellars then sells the limited edition range, all without charge or margins.

Katnook Estate was delighted to support this creative and charitable initiative by offering museum stock of the 2001 Odyssey to feature in the 2008 Wine By Design dozen. The limited edition label was designed by internationally acclaimed photographer, Matthew Sleeth, who took Odyssey to a new space by featuring an image of retro icon David Hasselhoff.

Other contributing wineries were Brookland Valley, De Bortoli, Kiltynane, McHenry Hohnen, Phi, Punt Road, Shadowfax, St Andrews, William Downie, Yalumba and Yarra Burn.

Each wine was matched with non-wine designers including: fashion designer, Akira Isogawa; garden designer, Paul Bangay; artist, Joost Bakker; restaurateur, George Calombaris; street artist, Ben Frost; artist, David Band; interior designer, Chris Connell; architects, Six Degrees; fashion designer, Alannah Hill; product designer, Cindy-Lee Davies and legendary wallpaper artist, Florence Broadhurst.

20 bottles of each wine are available in Australia at Vintage Cellars Toorak (VIC), Indooroopilly (QLD), Shenton Park (WA) and Double Bay (NSW).
