Competing against Shiraz from the Southern Hemisphere, IWSC judges described the winning wine as: " Dense intense cherry crimson colour. Fantastic lift on the nose, concentrated black plum, loganberry, chocolate and menthol with pronounced cigar box aromas. Richly textured in the mouth, massive concentration of fruit with nicely integrated cedary oak, a hefty whack of tannin is needed to support the lavish fruit weight, the palate has depth and viscosity, the finish is lengthy and layered with savory, peppery nuances."
The 2006 vintage will be available early 2010 at a retail price of $95.
