Katnook Cabernet Shines
11th February 2009
Leading wine writers this month endorsed Katnook Estate's reputation for "Classic Coonawarra Cabernet" through two outstanding reviews on the Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine magazine.
Currently available in fine wine stores and online, Katnook Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon ($98) and Katnook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon ($40) were described as "5 star, 96 points" and " amongst the best red produced in the region" respectively.
Here are the full reviews:
Katnook Odyssey Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 "Five stars, 96 points"
Huon Hooke and Bob Campbell MW, Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, Feb./March 2009
A character-filled cab with loads of complexities and a bouquet of violet, rose petal, berries and cedar/cigar box. It's well proportioned, with a flowing palate and is already aging gracefully.
Good drinking now or in the next 10+ years.
Katnook Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2005 "Among the best reds produced in the region"
Peter Forrestal, Australian Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, Feb./March 2009 Winemaker Wayne Stehbens has been at Katnook for 30 years and for more than a decade, the Katnook Estate Cabernet has been among the best red produced in the region. I see the Katnook Estate as the essence of Coonawarra in 2005: powerful, weighty, concentrated and deep with pure blackcurrant flavours - balanced and seamless.
